SIKA DESIGN: BRAND PROFILE
The Sika story began in Denmark in the 1940s with furniture design centred around comfort, quality and sustainability. This tradition continues today. Sika are third generation experts in the production and design of rattan and wicker furniture and the company continues to operate all sales, administration and logistics from its headquarters on the island of Funen in Denmark.
The Sika Originals Collection is inspired by some of the company’s original designs which breathe new life into furniture that is as stylish and covetable now as it was more than half a century ago. Sika Originals demonstrate the unique qualities that keep Danish design at the forefront of global trends.
Sika’s outdoor collection, ‘Georgia Garden’, takes one back to garden furniture of the late 19th century and is available in both antique and ashwood white weave. As they are woven from maintenance-free polyrattan, these stylish pieces provide plenty of style in the garden but demand little in the way of upkeep.
Sika-Design’s new designer collection, 'Icons' are products from known Danish architects. They all loved the unique rattan material, which they could bend 3-dimensionally. With the utmost respect to the original designs, we have put the chairs of Nanna & Jørgen Ditzel, Viggo Boesen and R.Wengler back into production. These designers were all significant to Sika's proud Danish design history with their experimenting and groundbreaking designs. Each in their own way, they performed magic with the sturdy, genius qualities of the beautiful natural material of rattan and wicker.
