The Ploum sofa is a contemporary, French design by brothers Erwan and Ronan Bouroullec for Ligne Roset and described by the brothers as ‘a ripe, voluptuous piece of fruit’.
Erwan and Ronan’s design is the fruit of much research into comfort. The result is a special combination of two materials, which is a stretchable covering and ultra soft foam. This combination, along with the Ploum sofas’ truly ample dimensions, provides extreme comfort and accommodates different ways of sitting, stretching out or even lying down.
Organic in shape, the Ploum sofas’ physical appeal is inviting through the points of stitching throughout the domed surface. It’s free form appearance offers an innovative look and feel to a space and this is no exception to the Bouroullec brother’s new textiles release.
The Moby is one of their new fabrics and is a result of continuous research for the perfect design, enhanced performance and comfort to suit the organic shape of Ploum. The organic pattern is a combination of a special knitting technique to produce a more voluminous and vast surface, without losing the important features and requirements for an outstanding upholstery.
Erwan and Ronan endeavour to produce singular and elegant objects that are sensual in form, sustainable and adaptable in terms of function.
The Ploum sofa is now available in new fabrics across DOMO’s seven showrooms or you can view more from the collection here
