Design by Evangelos Vasileiou

Concept & aesthetics

Born in Athens in 1976, Evangelos Vasileiou studied at the Camondo in Paris. He then continued his studies, going on to obtain a DPLG in architecture.
Based in Paris, he began collaborating with Aurélie Cristofari in 2005, working on architectural and interior design projects. In 2008, he opened the second agency in Athens.
He has also been collaborating with Ligne Roset since 2005. Several of his creations can currently be found in the Ligne Roset collection, not least the best-selling Clara coat rack (2006), the
Juliette dressing table (2013) and Asola lights (2016 & 2017). The Asola table lamp is a look back at the Seventies and Eighties, as much in terms of the material used – perforated steel –
and its white colour as its stylised mushroom-like shape. The latter evokes the emblematic lights of the period such as Giancarlo Mattioli’s Nesso light (1965) or Mario Botta’s Shogun (1986),
which he designed for Artemide Apart from its decorative aspect, the perforated metal has a double function, allowing warmth to circulate and naturally filtering the light. It projects a fishnet motif onto the surrounding walls which are evocative of mashrabiya latticework.

The immediate success of the Asola table lamp led Ligne Roset and Evangelos Vasileiou to further develop the range for 2017 with the addition of a spectacular suspended light Ø 60 constructed from 3 cylinders made from white lacquered perforated steel. In 2018, the range is completed with a floor lamp which is constructed according to the same principle as the table lamp. Asola’s extreme purity of form, being the simple association of two cylinders of differing heights and diameters, confers an air of clarity, a guarantee of timeless seduction.
