French furniture house Duvivier has been creating luxury furniture for more than 35 years and has since been renowned for its traditional French craftsmanship, unrivalled expertise with leather and an unwavering passion for materials. While it’s new collection is no exception, it also marks a new contemporary rebirth of the brand as a result of the esteemed manufacturer teaming up with one of France’s most exciting new-generation designers, Charlotte Juillard. Juillard embodies the inventive and innovative approach of the new generation of French designers but is still enamoured with traditional craftsmanship and materials to bring the perfect contemporary perspective to Duvivier.
The French creatives joined forces to launch two new collections — ‘Jules’ and ‘Jean’ —earlier this year at Maison & Objet and have been celebrated for their clever use of leather and fabric. Not only does Duvivier combine the two materials like no other, but only the finest of materials are used in the designs. As an example, only full grain leathers, which are guaranteed to be resistant, hard-wearing and elastic, are used as they are the only types of leather that have the authentic touch, suppleness and true look of leather.
The Jules collection is a seating collection directly inspired by the tchanqué cabins on the Île aux Oiseaux in Arcachon Bay off the southwest coast of France. The platforms and pilotis that elevate the timber houses are expressed in the wooden base and legs of the modular seating system, which includes sofas, sectional sofas and armchairs, corner units, chairs, ottomans, table separators and coffee tables made in France.
Modern French flair is showcased at DOMO, the only Australian retailer to exclusively stock the award-winning furniture label Duvivier. Duvivier has been creating high-quality sofas and armchairs, specialising in full-grain leather upholstery for over 35 years using traditional French methods.
Manufactured exclusively in France since 1978, Duvivier is the first French designer to use quality full-grain and rarely pigmented leathers that are respectful of the material, delivering a soft supple finish that its imitators cannot replicate. Using up to 10 different leather qualities to complete its ranges, each piece is contemporary yet opulent and designed to age beautifully over time. Quality is the number one priority for Duvivier. Every item is designed and manufactured in-house at the Maison in France and they offer a five-year unconditional guarantee on all frames, suspension and stitching. As proof of this, in 2006, the Maison was awarded an Enterprise du Patrimoine Vivant by the French Government who recognised Duvivier as a “Company of Living Heritage” for its industrial excellence and traditional French know-how.
