MOEL designed by Inga Sempé
Wining the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2007 “BEST OF THE BEST” and with the exception of its all-enveloping back, Moël draws heavily on Ligne Roset’s longstanding expertise in the field of all-foam models. With its generous comfort underlined by its soft, rounded shape, Moël will appeal most to lovers of an informal, relaxed lifestyle, who want to welcome their friends in the most convivial way possible. Not forgetting, of course, that Moël does not look like any other seat in existence.
The ottoman is also bi-colored: Inga Sempé recommends that the sides of the ottoman match the exterior of the sofa or armchair, and that the front/back parts and top of the ottoman match the interior of the sofa or armchair.
- The Red Dot Design Award is an international product design and communication design prize awarded by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany. There are prize categories for product design, design agencies, and design concepts. Since 1955, designers and producers can apply for the prizes with the winners being presented in an annual ceremony. Winning products are presented in the Red Dot Design Museum on the premises of the historical Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex in Essen. In 2013, the Red Dot Design Museum Taipei was opened. The Red Dot Design Award had more than 15,500 submissions from 70 countries in 2014.
A family company since 1860 when Antoine Roset opened a wood processing factory in France’s Ain province, Ligne Roset is now that country’s leading furniture exporter, with a presence in 71 countries worldwide. It is led today by the fourth generation of the Roset family – brothers Michel and Pierre and their sons Antoine and Olivier.
Ligne Roset is distinguished from other manufacturers by its tradition of close collaboration with both established and emerging designers, matching its deeply-held belief in design with investment and technical innovation. The past 40 years have seen collaborations with award winning Didier Gomez, Pascal Mourgue, Peter Maly and the Bouroullec brothers, among others, resulting in complementary furniture collections and decorative accessories, lighting, rugs, textiles and occasional items.
Such design collaborations have seen Ligne Roset win many accolades including the Red Dot Design Award on a number of occasions. The Red Dot dates back to 1955 and is one of the world’s most distinguished design awards.
All Ligne Roset products are developed at the company’s own factories in Briord, France, to ensure quality control from beginning to the end. The Ligne Roset name is stamped on each product as an external symbol of perfection.
