Paper Lamp – Design: René Barba 2015 Having worked with glass for a range of lighting designed for Belgian firm Serax, Barba now explores a new material for Ligne Roset for use on his new Paper Lamp table lamp: non-woven fabric. Not just any old fabric, of course: a special non-woven fabric which is tear-proof and classed M1 (non-inflammable). This non-woven fabric is made up in a kind of double-sided envelope, with one printed and one white face – this covers the entire structure and also the black lacquered steel base.
A family company since 1860 when Antoine Roset opened a wood processing factory in France’s Ain province, Ligne Roset is now that country’s leading furniture exporter, with a presence in 71 countries worldwide. It is led today by the fourth generation of the Roset family – brothers Michel and Pierre and their sons Antoine and Olivier.
Ligne Roset is distinguished from other manufacturers by its tradition of close collaboration with both established and emerging designers, matching its deeply-held belief in design with investment and technical innovation. The past 40 years have seen collaborations with award winning Didier Gomez, Pascal Mourgue, Peter Maly and the Bouroullec brothers, among others, resulting in complementary furniture collections and decorative accessories, lighting, rugs, textiles and occasional items.
Such design collaborations have seen Ligne Roset win many accolades including the Red Dot Design Award on a number of occasions. The Red Dot dates back to 1955 and is one of the world’s most distinguished design awards.
All Ligne Roset products are developed at the company’s own factories in Briord, France, to ensure quality control from beginning to the end. The Ligne Roset name is stamped on each product as an external symbol of perfection.Dimensions
