Designer Nanna Ditzel – ICONS Collection
Handmade in Indonesian with sustainable rattan. Skilled wicker workers make the fine bindings in the seat and back of a frame of rattan. Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel began working with wicker in collaboration with the renowned wicker R. Wengler in 1950. Many international furniture architects worked at the time to reconcile the seat and the back in one form in different materials. Ditzel’s experimental approach to materials, and based on the body, resulted in one of the first bids on one consecutive chairs-to form. The three-legged line chair was initiated for the rediscovery of rattan’s many properties. It won awards at the Carpentry Exhibition and the Triennale in Milan, wicker furniture gained new status in the interior design. The Rana chair contributes with a natural element to any living space both classic or contemporary.
