Softly Sofa designed by Australian Nick Rennie.
The Softly settees aspire to offer both a cosy, classically-inspired and very comfortable seating solution and an accessible price within the Ligne Roset collection. The initial concept is the bed, which is the clearest and simplest expression of absolute comfort.
When deconstructed, it gives us mattress, pillows and cushions. From these basic elements, one must then reconstruct the settee: the enveloping back and armrests will be constructed from large vertical pillows placed on the ground, clearly demarcated by the elegant cleft/space which separates the armrests from the back in the two rear corners; the seat cushion will be evocative of a mattress, the idea of which will be reinforced by cushioning and bourrelet stitching to mark out the different seat places; finally, the multiple possible combinations of the three sizes of goose feather-filled lumbar and armrest cushion-reins (one small and one large square one and one rectangular one) clearly recalls the way in which decorative cushions are often arranged at the head of a bed.
