Softly Sofa designed by Australian Nick Rennie.

The Softly settees aspire to offer both a cosy, classically-inspired and very comfortable seating solution and an accessible price within the Ligne Roset collection. The initial concept is the bed, which is the clearest and simplest expression of absolute comfort.

When deconstructed, it gives us mattress, pillows and cushions. From these basic elements, one must then reconstruct the settee: the enveloping back and armrests will be constructed from large vertical pillows placed on the ground, clearly demarcated by the elegant cleft/space which separates the armrests from the back in the two rear corners; the seat cushion will be evocative of a mattress, the idea of which will be reinforced by cushioning and bourrelet stitching to mark out the different seat places; finally, the multiple possible combinations of the three sizes of goose feather-filled lumbar and armrest cushion-reins (one small and one large square one and one rectangular one) clearly recalls the way in which decorative cushions are often arranged at the head of a bed. Made in France.

Additional Information

A family company since 1860 when Antoine Roset opened a wood processing factory in France’s Ain province, Ligne Roset is now that country’s leading furniture exporter, with a presence in 71 countries worldwide. It is led today by the fourth generation of the Roset family – brothers Michel and Pierre and their sons Antoine and Olivier.

Ligne Roset is distinguished from other manufacturers by its tradition of close collaboration with both established and emerging designers, matching its deeply-held belief in design with investment and technical innovation. The past 40 years have seen collaborations with award winning Didier Gomez, Pascal Mourgue, Peter Maly and the Bouroullec brothers, among others, resulting in complementary furniture collections and decorative accessories, lighting, rugs, textiles and occasional items.

Such design collaborations have seen Ligne Roset win many accolades including the Red Dot Design Award on a number of occasions.  The Red Dot dates back to 1955 and is one of the world’s most distinguished design awards.

All Ligne Roset products are developed at the company’s own factories in Briord, France, to ensure quality control from beginning to the end. The Ligne Roset name is stamped on each product as an external symbol of perfection.
