Care of Leather Furniture

Every hide is unique and will exhibit colour fluctuations due to the tendency of leather to accept dyes differently in specific areas. Natural markings such as neck and belly wrinkles, healed scars, scratches and insect bites are normal. It is these, combined with the varied and interesting textures and colour effects, which expert craftsmen carefully exploit during tailoring to best reveal the full character and beauty of the leather.

It is important to appreciate that these characteristics will be present; they are a natural hallmark and distinguish top grain leather from lesser grades of leather used by the vast majority of manufacturers.

Top quality aniline hides are used within our leather ranges and these leathers will gain character over the years. Most scuffs and scratches will appear and fade during use, and given the care due to any of your favourite possessions, your DOMO leather upholstery will endure for a very long time.

Do not place items upholstered in leather near a source of heat: for example, try to leave at least 50cm between your settee and a radiator. It is also important to protect your leather upholstery from prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

If leather comes into contact with any solvents such as hair spray, hair gel, pool chemicals, or mosquito repellents, the surface should be wiped down immediately with warm water. Surface damage caused by any of the above is not covered by this warranty.

Vacuum your upholstery using a soft brush attachment.

Important:

The leather cleaning instructions shown below do not apply to full grain aniline dyed hides.

These hides are very difficult to clean and cleaning should be only attempted by a leather care specialist.

Maintenance

Wipe the arms, headrests and other areas getting heavy use with a damp cloth.

To remove stains and care for areas which are regularly in contact with oily skin, hair, etc, you are advised to use products found within a leather care kit.

When moving your furniture, always lift; do not drag it along the ground.

Finally, in case of accidents or more serious stains, consult with a leather care specialist or contact DOMO for further advice.
