Three Norfolk Surrey Hills in Melbourne is a collection of 15 expansive residences inspired by the open spaces of neighbouring Surrey Gardens. The charm of the village setting and the character of the surrounding tree-lined streets make the development a unique green space to live.

Designed by Bruce Henderson Architects, the architecture embraces views of the green surroundings and the city skyline beyond, with dual aspect living featuring light from both the south and north, and cross ventilation which allows the interiors to breathe.

The architecture of Three Norfolk Surrey Hills is inspired by the adjacent Surrey Gardens – the rhythm of its trees, the sense of space, the calming colours. With rising columns, open terraces and lush planters, here the traditional boundary between the built and natural environment falls away.

The building’s façade opens up toward the expanses of the park, inviting light and views within. The elegant stone-clad columns cast patterns of light and shadow across the building and respond to the changing light and seasons.

The interiors of Three Norfolk Surrey Hills embrace the balance of the contemporary and the classic which defines the character of Surrey Hills. The design by Bruce Henderson Interiors features strong horizontal and vertical lines, as well as connections with the gardens. This is in terms of framing the views of greenery or featuring natural materials such as timber battens and stone bench tops.

This sentiment is carried through the furniture selections featured within this project. The curvy cream Vuelta sofa by Wittmann adds texture to the living space, while a chic DS-266 leather recliner chair by de Sede adds an artistic sculpture to the room. Meanwhile the shapely DS-266 Recliner Chair and smooth round Oasis coffee table by HC28 Cosmo complement the curves of the Astreé floor lamp by Ligne Roset. For those who enjoy a cosy nook outside, a rattan hanging egg chair by Sika Design adds privacy.

Refined and minimal, yet also imbued with warmth and personality, the interior design of Three Norfolk Surrey Hills impresses as much for its practical benefits as for its visual appeal.
