A Modern Alpine Retreat

Perched at the base of Bourke Street, the Apres Ski Apartment Mt Buller is a refined expression of modern alpine living.

Offering true ski-in/ski-out access, the residence pairs exceptional location with a considered interior approach that moves beyond traditional chalet conventions. Designed by Fry Studio, the apartment embraces natural materials and contemporary detailing to create a warm, textural retreat grounded in its alpine setting.

Design Vision of Apres Ski Apartment

Luke Fry of Fry Studio shares the design intent behind the Mt Buller apartment:

“We wanted the spaces to feel warm and textural without leaning into alpine clichés. The use of oak and stone allowed us to create that warmth while tonally connecting the interiors to the native Australian landscape outside. Alpine construction brings its own challenges, but the final outcome remains true to our original vision.”

The result is a modern alpine interior that feels both grounded and elevated. It’s designed to endure the practical demands of mountain living while maintaining a refined aesthetic.

Alpine Luxury Meets Everyday Function

Every element of the Après Ski Apartment has been thoughtfully planned to balance luxury with functionality across all seasons. From practical entry zones to generous entertaining spaces, the apartment responds intuitively to life on the mountain.

Entry & Ski Zones:
Purpose-designed ski storage and drying rooms allow for a seamless transition from the slopes to the home.

Living & Entertainment:
An expansive open-plan living area is complemented by a private cinema, sauna and gym. This delivers a resort-style experience within the comfort of home.

Material Choices:
Oak, travertine and contemporary finishes provide warmth, durability and timeless appeal, ensuring the interiors remain resilient in an alpine environment.

Luke Fry notes:
“The location is second to none – right in the heart of the village. The entry was designed as a destination in itself, an alpine hub where the owners can gather and entertain year-round, with immediate access to everything Mt Buller offers.”

Styled with DOMO

DOMO furnishings were carefully selected by Fry Studio to enhance the apartment’s layered material palette, introducing softness, comfort and refined luxury to the expansive interiors.

Key pieces include:

A cream-coloured 1970’s reissue of the Kashima sofa by Ligne Roset is featured in the living room. Its plush, tactile comfort is ideal for the relaxed alpine retreat. It’s draped with a Faux fur throw for an added sense of comfort. The living room features a cosy sheepskin Curly ottoman by DOMO Home. While the bedroom is showcases to a maroon Bold side table by HC28 with minimalist curves and chic gloss finish.

Each piece for the Apres Ski Apartment was chosen to complement the architecture while reinforcing the apartment’s welcoming, lived-in luxury.

Luxury Meets Alpine Comfort

This Mt Buller residence by Fry Studio exemplifies a modern approach to alpine design, one that prioritises warmth, restraint and functionality. Styled with select DOMO furniture, the home is transformed into a timeless, year-round retreat that reflects the art of considered alpine living.
